Oregano (Origanum vulgare) 0,2g
Oregano (Origanum vulgare) – a perennial, aromatic herb with a distinctly warm, slightly spicy flavor and a strong Mediterranean aroma. Oregano is a classic in Italian and Greek cuisine, especially suitable for pizzas, pastas, tomato dishes, meat, and vegetables. The plant forms a bushy clump with small, oval leaves and blooms in summer with light pink to violet flowers that attract pollinators. In addition to its culinary value, oregano is also traditionally known for its antibacterial and digestion-promoting properties.
Seeds are sown on the surface or at a very shallow depth, as they require light for germination. It is recommended to sow seedlings indoors or in a greenhouse, later transplanting them to a permanent location. Germination occurs in about 10–20 days. Oregano grows well in a sunny spot, in light, well-drained soil, and is drought-tolerant. Regular pruning encourages bushier growth and more aromatic leaves.
